From January 1, 2021 the UK will have its own cosmetic regulation, already published in schedule 34 of UK Statutory Instrument Product Safety and Metrology, Amendment of Regulation (EC) N°1223/2009 and related documents.
The UK cosmetic regulation is more or less the same as the current European regulation EU Cosmetic Regulation(EC)1223/2009, however changes involve new cosmetic notification through the UK notification portal, the need for a UK based responsible person (RP) and re-labeling to include new RP details and country of origin.
The Product Information File (PIF) must be in English and must be made available at the UK RP address. RPs will have 90 days to complete notifications for existing products that will continue to be sold in the UK. In that case, the existing CPNP notifications should have been downloaded from the European notification portal before the end of this year.
Please be reminded that the UK rules are not applicable to North Ireland.
